4What it costs, and the NHS route
You do not need a GP referral to see a counsellor privately, and you can refer yourself to NHS Talking Therapies without one either. Paying privately usually means choosing who you see and starting sooner; the NHS route is free. Waiting times vary by area, so this site does not quote them.
Counsellors listed here work through BetterHelp on a subscription that can be cancelled at any time. Fees are shown once you contact them, not here, because they change.
If you need help now
This site lists planned support arranged in advance. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call 116 123 to reach Samaritans, free and open at any hour, or text SHOUT to 85258. In an emergency call 999.
